Jen Tyson • July 26, 2023

The long awaited awards evening took place at the beautiful Te Pae, Christchurch Convention Centre.

With record numbers of entries, the event experienced record numbers of attendance at the celebration. It was a fantastic evening where the support for the finalists was loud and proud.

66 pounamu were blessed and presented to finalists in an exclusive pre awards event and special guest,Miranda Swift, the 2022 Undergraduate Excellence in Construction Award for NAWIC NSW,joined the celebrations to share her inspiring journey.

It’s hard to fully convey how proud I am. Proud of our entrants, finalists, winners and recipients (I hope you are all proud of yourselves too!). Proud of our NAWIC team (of mostly all volunteers) who together pulled off an incredible, highly professional and inspirational event. Proud of how far the awards have come over the last 9 years and finally, proud of Stacey Mendonca and myself for being brave and bold by getting up on stage in front of 640 people to co-present. Thank you to all of our sponsors, in particular our partner for the evening Naylor Love and thank you to all our attendees. I hope you were all inspired by our incredible winners and recipients to help make our industry a better place for all.Rebecca Hodges - NAWIC President

In our 9th year of NAWIC Awards of Excellence in the construction industry, we were privileged to shine the light on a diverse group of stellar Finalists. With a record uptake of 238 entries from the industry, it had been an extremely difficult task for the 46 Judges and moderators to select the winners and other trophy recipients from this amazing group.

Thank you to all entry nominees for accepting the challenge to enter and experience the judging process, it is not easy to do this. To all the nominators, thank you for acknowledging and sharing your outstanding staff for the excellent mahi they do everyday. It was a thrilling evening full of inspiring acceptance speeches, a few surprises and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate all the Winners, Highly Commended and Special Merit recipients and Finalists together.

The success of the evening was due to the NAWIC Awards team and supported by NAWIC Chapter committee members from around the motu all willing to work together to encourage other women .” Stacey Mendonça, NAWIC Awards Director.
