Advanced TTM Designer
When did you start in the construction industry:
2020
When did you decide working in construction was the thing you wanted to do:
I was looking for something that wasn’t chained to a desk and attending endless corporate meetings so fell into a role in arborism, and from that got into traffic management design, and
am now part of the Transport and Infrastructure team at Downer.
What are you most passionate about?
Women supporting women!
Why did you join NAWIC?
Mainly my friend forced me to. Jokes, well she did but I was a willing victim. It’s a great organization and important to build relationships with people who share the same values and have a unique understanding of our specific challenges.
What would you like to see for the future of women in construction?
In general, I want to see women being valued for the specific traits we bring to the table, instead of feeling like we need to emulate men to be respected or good at our job.
Words of wisdom or tips for women at the start of or considering a career in construction:
There are apps for finding public loos.
A bit of vicks under your nose keeps out most bad smells.
What is your favourite thing to do for fun:
Cooking, reading, researching for my podcast, growing gourmet mushrooms.
