When did you start in the construction industry:

2023

When did you decide working in construction was the thing you wanted to do:

I switched from retail to the construction industry because I was offered a role that aligns perfectly with what I'm passionate about: enabling and empowering others. I've always been driven by my love for learning and want to inspire others to see the beauty in lifelong learning too. This role also gave me the chance to help pioneer a women’s action group within the company. It's a great opportunity for me to make a real impact, promoting equality, diversity, and positive change in both the industry and the lives of women.

What are you most passionate about?

I am deeply passionate about learning and personal growth. What truly excites me is empowering others to develop in all aspects of their lives, whether it's cultivating a growth mindset or enhancing their sales skills. I find immense fulfilment in enabling individuals to reach their full potential and succeed in both their personal and professional endeavors.

Why did you join NAWIC?

I joined NAWIC because I wanted to connect with others in the industry and learn more about it. The first event I attended was the BUILDhers site visit, and it was so inspiring. Every event I go to makes it easy to connect with others—everyone is so warm and welcoming. This has been a huge confidence boost for me as someone new to the industry. I was also intrigued by NAWIC's motto of 'Include, Inspire, and Respect' and I was excited to bring those values back to the women's action group we were starting.

What would you like to see for the future of women in construction?

I envision a future where women in construction are not only well-represented but also thriving in every aspect of the industry. I hope to see more women in leadership roles, breaking barriers and paving the way for others. I envision inclusive workplaces that foster mentorship and support for women at all stages of their careers. Ultimately, I look forward to a future where gender diversity is not only embraced but becomes the norm in the construction industry, allowing everyone to contribute and succeed based on their skills and dedication.

Words of wisdom or tips for women at the start of or considering a career in construction:

Embrace your strengths as a woman in this industry—your unique skills and perspective are invaluable. Embrace the joy of continuous growth and learning, staying curious and adaptable in this dynamic field. Embrace the diversity you bring to the table, and be open to the differences others bring.

What is your favourite thing to do for fun:

I'm really into pole fitness—it's a great mix of strength and creativity. Food is another big passion of mine—I love exploring new flavors and dishes.
