What is your current title for work?

Architectural Technician at Chow:Hill

How many years have you been in the construction industry:

2.5 years

When did you decide working in construction was the thing you wanted to do:

I decided I wanted to get into Architecture in my last year of high school. I’d always been really inspired by great design in buildings, cities and spaces - and loved to draw them too.

Going into study knowing that this industry was more male dominated just drove me even harder to exceed my goals.

What are you most passionate about?

My passion is people. I love helping people achieve their goals. I also love Architecture and seeing ideas/dreams come to life - from a thought - to plans - to being built.

Why did you join NAWIC?

After hearing from a colleague in Auckland about NAWIC, I was excited to be part of the beginning of NAWIC in the Waikato, to grow my networks and connect with women who encourage and support one another in the construction industry.

What would you like to see for the future of women in construction?

I would love to see more woman in our industry. Also, for woman to be respected for their valuable contribution to the industry.

Words of wisdom or tips for women at the start of or considering a career in construction:

Be bold and courageous! Step out of your comfort zone and make a difference! Show everyone what you’ve got and believe in yourself!

What is your favourite thing to do for fun:

I love going on road trips with my husband and friends. Enjoy relaxing in the sun. Also love a good board game!
