How many years have you been in the construction industry: Approximately 8, so far….


When did you decide working in construction was the thing you wanted to do:

A little before the new Health & Safety at Work Act 2015 came into play.


What are you most passionate about?

Improving Health & Safety Culture in the Workplace, making it a more natural thought - supporting team members in their efforts to raise the safety standards on sites.


Why did you join NAWIC?

A diverse roopu/group of Women making positive connections and change in the Construction Industry is something I wanted to be part of.


What would you like to see for the future of women in construction?

More of us in all of the trades. Balance, Harmony, Respect and Pride in our presence and contribution to the Construction Industry.


Words of wisdom or tips for women at the start of or considering a career in construction:

Joining NAWIC is great opportunity to be part of a supportive and inclusive network of women to reach out to and connect with, whatever age or stage you start your career in Construction.


Having a few funny one liners in your back pocket is also good for site banter! Starting something new is just that…..new! Time will play a huge part in settling in and finding your place and rhythm.


Communication is key as they say, and that may come in different forms with different people. Enjoy and learn from the experience and journey wāhine toa – it’s all yours!!


What is your favourite thing to do for fun:

My tamariki/children bring me all the fun and joy (and washing) I need! Coffee catch ups with lovely friends are also essential for therapeutic purposes! I’m quite enjoying my new SUP Board too at the moment!
