What is your current title for work?

Internal Communications & Workload Manager, PlaceMakers

When did you start in the construction industry:

August 2022

When did you decide working in construction was the thing you wanted to do:

I've always enjoyed working in Industrial type businesses however, I have only been working in the Construction industry since starting at PlaceMakers.

What are you most passionate about?

Equality, acceptance & understanding - believing that everyone should be appreciated for who they are, accepting their individuality and encouraging them to be true to themselves and what they believe in.

Why did you join NAWIC?

Initially it was to network with likeminded women, however as we look to start our new South Auckland chapter it is also about helping to support the great work done by those before us and encouraging others to get involved.

What would you like to see for the future of women in construction?

I would like to see more women leaders in the industry-not only on the tools, but also sitting on company boards and leading from the top. Also for there to be more opportunities for women to grow and develop within the industry.

Words of wisdom or tips for women at the start of or considering a career in construction:

I would say that you can do anything you put your mind to, and to embrace any challenges or opportunities that come your way-use these to grow and develop.

me aro koe ki te ha o Hine-ahu-one

pay heed to the dignity and power of women

What is your favourite thing to do for fun:

I enjoy spending time with my whanau & getting out in the fresh air either on the water, or with my 2 Staffys for a bush walk or similar. I enjoy cooking, dining out and catching up with friends.
