“Whirlwind” of activity this year

Corrie Cook • July 4, 2019

From the President

It’s been quite a whirlwind of activity in the first half of this year!

I am pleased to report that we have several new sponsors on board, with more companies expressing an interest in being involved with our values, mission and activities in the wider marketplace.

We are looking at opening satellite chapters in the Bay of Plenty and Hamilton, however this will only take shape in the new year. NAWIC Qatar is also taking shape, and Billie Teshich has kept me updated on developments in the Middle East. They have to go through a rigorous application process to establish the association there. We are in full support of this venture as a global movement.

New representative for the Construction Industry Council Ruth Williams has taken over the role from Donna and is doing some very good work on our behalf.

Our website was rolled out and launched in April in time for International Women’s Day, which was very well received by the public, our members and followers! Re-branding was well overdue and I am so proud and pleased with this new, fresh look. Have you had a look yet? www.nawic.org.nz

Wishing everyone a very warm and dry winter – let’s not stop looking after all the amazing women in construction, and pat ourselves on the back for the effort and time it takes to do what we do.

Jenny Parker, National President
