Are you immune to measles?

To ensure everyone enjoys this event on September 27, we all need to remember Auckland’s current struggles with measles - and we suggest you check your immunisation status in time. The Ministry of Health suggests you do this at least TWO WEEKS before visiting Auckland.

If you’re under 50 years old, with some exceptions your best protection seems to be to get the free MMR vaccinations from your GP. Two doses of the vaccine is reportedly 99% effective in preventing measles.

If you’re over 50, you’re probably safe because you’ll have already been exposed to measles.
