Celebrating women pioneering the future in construction.

WOW! On the 131st anniversary of Suffrage day, 2024, NAWIC chapters joined forces with BCITO to host a FREE simultaneous event, across all chapter regions in Aotearoa, New Zealand - We Belong - Women Pioneering The Future in Construction.

The event was themed to showcase, just like our suffrage sisters 131 years ago, many women in construction have been pioneers in the industry, advocating for change and carving a path for others to follow, by encouraging and mentoring women starting out as a student or apprentice, supporting those considering a career in the sector, and cheering on the ones who are leading the way.

Each chapter had a BCITO apprentice leader speak about their journey so far, and then added their own local flavor by inviting other speakers to share or form a panel.

There were amazing spot prizes, great food, insightful and inspiring stories, networking and of course connecting women from across all parts of the sector.

With over 600 people registering across all chapters, there was a real appetite for connection, inspiration and hearing more about various career journeys in construction.

A huge congratulations to our newest chapter in Taranaki, who officially launched their chapter at this event.

We would like to thank the Building Construction Industry Training Organisation (BCITO) for their generous event support of the catering, spot prizes, apprentice leaders, speakers, flyers, giveaways and being part of the event in every region, showcasing the great mahi they are doing in this space.
